Robert Grieves – Award Winning London Animator

For almost two decades, I’ve created multi-award winning animations, guided by my passion for illustration, design and storytelling. Regardless of format – my projects always entertain, engage and inform.

History

Starting with a degree in Illustration (Brighton), I then took a Masters in Animation (London), where my graduation film qualified for the Oscars. This opened up work animating for TV, where I created Emmy winning motion design for BBC, and also won two Gold Promax awards. But I truly hit my stride creating campaigns for brands and organisations, helping reach global audiences online.

I’ve always been active in the animation community, teaching at University, judging at awards, even helping British Council promote the industry within schools. But as someone with dyslexia, I hadn’t planned to end up writing articles for the School Of Motion, and the UK’s No1 animation magazine.

Clients

Working across TV, live events and social has lead to a wide variety of clients:
Adidas – animated highlights of World Cup
LEGO – two campaigns promoting creative play
Rolling Stone Magazine – wrote and animated history of protest songs
London Olympics – stadium animation for opening and closing ceremonies

As well as those global brands are the smaller, much-cherished, jobs for the butcher, baker and candlestick maker. Everybody has a story, and I’d love to tell each one..

Here are some non-profit messages I’ve helped share:
Sesame Street – an animated a song for healthy eating
Transport Workers Union – a film about their history
Navy and Marines charity – a story to help children in the forces
Wingify.Earth – Trilogy of environmental films

Sausage

Sausage is a short film I wrote and directed, who’s success lead all the way to the Oscars. On course it screened at around 100 festivals, winning 8 of them. When released online, it received a Vimeo ‘Staff Pick’ and countless online reviews. My first narrative film, it proved my ability to connect with audiences around the world, young and old. The same techniques I use to help brands tell their stories.
